Competitions
The club flourishes on competitions as members believe that participation is one of the best ways of improving proficiency. Competitions in both sections are varied and there are several impressive Club Trophies for award annually for individual achievements. Some of the competitions are scored on a handicap basis which “equalises different skill levels so that all have a chance of success.
The rifle section runs a competition which is a prestigious Club Championship, awarded on gun score alone. One of the other trophies is shot for at 50 metres and 100 yards using a “borrowed” outdoor range at Appleton, Warrington.
The carbine section organises a high powered full bore rifle competition, shot at 100 yards on another “borrowed” outdoor range at Rossendale.
There are also many team competitions in both sections run throughout the year. These include inter-club matches against other clubs which are also enjoyed as social occasions. Our club teams compete in County and National run competitions via postal leagues and both sections have achieved notable success over the years
